I believe in cooperative learning in a classroom. Students learn the most when working with one another. It is important for students to be given activities that incorporates collaboration with their peers.
I believe in a fresh start to everyday. No one is perfect, and we all have our bad days. Students shouldn’t be treated any differently because of their previous actions. All students should be given the same chances and opportunities no matter what behavior problems they may be encountering.
I believe in giving students choices. Students fill empowered when they are able to choose their book, center, activity, positive and negative consequences. I will give appropriate choices, but the students will be given the opportunity to select the most appropriate for themselves."Do you want to read the book on cats or dogs?"
I believe in literature. Literature is a connection to the the world. Everyone loves to read, they just don't know it. Children need to be taught how to select appropriate books. It is my job as a teacher to introduce different genres to my students and to help them find the perfect one for them. It is important to have our students read, even if it's a sports magazine. Reading is reading.
I believe in cultural diversity. Our students need know their own culture and also the cultures surrounding us. It is important for students to know and understand that everyone is different. Culture is something that can easily be lost when not living in the country of origin and this is why I believe in making my students aware of the cultural diversities.
I believe that every student is smart, even if they don't believe it themselves.
